Cygnus is a bunch of stars in the sky shaped like a swan. People long ago named it after the Latin word for "swan." It's part of a group of 88 other star patterns recognized by a bunch of fancy astronomers.
In Cygnus, there are some really bright stars and cool things to look at with telescopes. One of the most noticeable parts is called the Northern Cross, made up of the brightest stars in the shape of, you guessed it, a cross. There's also a big bright star called Deneb that's part of what's known as the Summer Triangle, along with two other stars from different constellations.
Not just stars, but there are also these cloudy things called nebulae in Cygnus. Some look like North America and a pelican. There's even a big, leftover explosion from a star called the Cygnus Loop.
Cygnus isn't just interesting to astronomers; it's been used in stories too, like a book called "Cygnus" and a movie called "Contact."
